Recall 16V514000 · manufacturer campaign 9901300
Equipment › Other › Labels — Jayco Travel Trailer · reported 7 Jul 2016 · 32 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2017 Jay Flight SLX travel trailers, model 212 QBW, manufactured June 27, 2016, to June 28, 2016. The affected vehicles were manufactured with Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) and Tire Labels indicating incorrect vehicle weight. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The risk
Incorrect weight on labels can allow the operator to overload the vehicle, affecting vehicle handling, and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Jayco has notified the dealers that have the affected trailers and supplied them with corrected labels, free of charge. The recall began July 6, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-2833-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901300.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
