Recall 16V547000 · manufacturer campaign 37-07142016-0224
Equipment › Other › Labels — Forest River · reported 22 Jul 2016 · 72 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Surveyor recreational trailers, model SVT226RLDS, manufactured October 9, 2015, to June 9, 2016. The affected vehicles have a Federal Placard that incorrectly classifies the vehicle as a school bus. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
If the vehicle is misclassified on the label, it can cause the vehicle to be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect Federal Placard with a corrected placard, free of charge. The recall began on September 12, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440. Forest River's number for this recall is 37-07142016-0224.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
