Recall 16V556000 · manufacturer campaign 16508
Electrical System › Wiring › Fuses And Circuit Breakers — International · reported 26 Jul 2016 · 3,952 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2017 International ProStar trucks manufactured June 11, 2013, through May 19, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the connection for the cube fuse terminal may break resulting in a total loss of power to the cab and an unexpected engine stall.
The risk
An unexpected engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the cube fuse with a chassis-mounted power distribution module (PDM), free of charge. An interim notice was sent to owners on September 14, 2016. The recall began on October 28, 2016. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 16508.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
