Recall 16V657000 · manufacturer campaign FL-720
Fuel System, Other › Storage › Tank Assembly › Filling/charging — Thomas Built Buses · reported 13 Sep 2016 · 114 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2017 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses manufactured April 30, 2016, to July 29, 2016 and equipped with a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine. During a fast fuel fill, an internal seal on a filling valve may dislodge allowing fuel to leak after the tank has been filled.
The risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire.
The fix
DTNA has notified all affected owners and all of the vehicles have been remedied, therefore owner notification notices will not be issued for this campaign. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-720.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
