Recall 16V679000 · manufacturer campaign RCL-16-003A
Power Train › Driveline › Differential Unit — Ducati · reported 20 Sep 2016 · 1,433 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Ducati XDiavel motorcycles manufactured July 7, 2015, to June 22, 2016. The affected motorcycles may have an insufficiently tightened final drive pulley retaining nut which may result in a loss of power transmission to the rear wheel.
The risk
A loss of power transmission to the rear wheel may increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install a new washer under the final drive pulley retaining nut and increase the tightening torque, free of charge. The recall began on November 1, 2016. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696. Ducati's number for this recall is RCL-16-003.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
