Recall 16V723000 · manufacturer campaign MDTT-1602
Steering › Linkages — Autocar · reported 7 Oct 2016 · 1,132 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Autocar Industries, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Xspotter and Xpert vehicles manufactured March 2, 2015, to September 22, 2016. The castle nuts on the steering linkage assembly may not have been tightened properly.
The risk
If the castle nuts were not properly tightened, the cotter pin could shear and the steering linkage assembly components could separate, resulting in the loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Autocar will notify owners, and authorized Autocar service repair facilities will repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2016. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is MDTT-1602.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
