Recall 16V749000 · manufacturer campaign 51-10022016-0252
Electrical System › Instrument Cluster/panel — Glaval Bus, Startrans · reported 18 Oct 2016 · 63 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 StarTrans P/S2 transit buses manufactured January 19, 2016, to May 2, 2016, and model year 2016-2017 Glaval Legacy transit buses manufactured November 9, 2015, to August 4, 2016, equipped with ICU3 instrument clusters and hydraulic brakes. In the event of a brake malfunction, these clusters may illuminate the Brake System Malfunction telltale/indicator lamp with the word "PARK" instead of the word "BRAKE". As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays," and number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems."
The risk
If the word "PARK" illuminates instead of the word "BRAKE," the driver may be unaware of a braking issue or malfunction, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Forest River will notify owners, and Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) authorized service facilities will replace the ICU3 dash instrument clusters, free of charge. An interim notice was mailed to owners on November 23, 2016. Owners may contact StarTrans customer service at 1-574-642-3112, Glaval customer service at 1-574-343-5167, or DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-10022016-0252.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
