Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery › Fuel Pump — Mercedes-benz · reported 19 Oct 2016 · 6,858 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2017 E300 Sedan and E300 Sedan 4Matic vehicles manufactured December 10, 2015, to June 30, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the rear bench seat frame may contact and damage the wiring harness for the fuel pump, fuel tank pressure sensor or fuel level gauge.
The risk
Damage to the fuel pump wiring may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
MBUSA has notified owners, and dealers will modify the routing of the affected wiring harness, repairing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 28, 2016. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
