Recall 16V773000

Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/trailer — Newmar · reported 24 Oct 2016 · 19 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain model year 2017 Dutch Star and Ventana motorhomes manufactured May 17, 2016, to September 27, 2016. On certain motorhomes, the wardrobe slide out motor may have been installed without having a brake.

The risk

If the slide out motor does not have a brake installed, the slide out box could extend unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the motor and replace it if necessary, free of charge. The recall ibegan on December 16, 2016. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
