Recall 16V811000 · manufacturer campaign 70-10312016-0263
Tires › Temporary/emergency Spare Tire — Forest River · reported 8 Nov 2016 · 111 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Riverstone Legacy fifth wheel recreational trailers manufactured October 7, 2016, to October 18, 2016. The spare tire and rim combination on the affected vehicles may be incompatible with the disk-brake hubs, preventing the rim from mounting flat and flush to the hub face.
The risk
If an owner installs the spare wheel that was provided with the trailer, the lug nuts may fail, allowing the wheel to detach, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the spare rim and tire assembly, free of charge. The recall began on December 20, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-367-3269. Forest River's number for this recall is 70-10312016-0263.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
