Recall 16V835000
Equipment — Altec · reported 17 Nov 2016 · 2,194 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain model year 1995-1999 Aerial Device trucks manufactured May 1, 1995, to August 15, 1999 and equipped with Rosenboom Machine and Tool lower boom lift cylinders. The cylinder end gland could fail which could cause uncontrolled boom movement.
The risk
Uncontrolled boom movement may increase the risk of injury to the operator or bystanders.
The fix
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the boom, and repair or replace the cylinder, free of charge. The recall began on January 13, 2017. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-205-991-7733.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
