Recall 16V898000

Structure › Body › Door › Hinge And Attachments — Kzrv · reported 14 Dec 2016 · 262 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

KZRV, L.P. (KZRV) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Venom and Durango Gold toyhaulers and fifth wheel trailers manufactured January 11, 2016, to December 2, 2016. The affected vehicles have rear cargo door hinges with welds on the hinge pin and hinge plate that may be insufficient, and as a result, the top of the door may swing down with more force than normal.

The risk

If the door does not open as expected, there would be an increased risk of injury to those in the door's path.

The fix

KZRV will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the weld thickness, and if necessary replace the rear door hinges, free of charge. The recall began on January 13, 2017. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016 extension 154 or 153.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
