Recall 17V043000 · manufacturer campaign FL731
Electrical System › Software — Freightliner · reported 19 Jan 2017 · 769 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Freightliner Business Class M2, 108SD, and 114SD trucks. The affected trucks have been modified to be equipped with both left hand and right hand instrument clusters. Due to incompatibilities between the displays, the instrument clusters and/or turn signals may become unresponsive.
The risk
Unresponsive instrument clusters and/or turn signals can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left instrument cluster with a cluster compatible with the right display, free of charge. The recall began on May 8, 2017. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL731.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
