Recall 17V049000 · manufacturer campaign ACTT-1701
Interior Lighting — Autocar · reported 23 Jan 2017 · 29 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Autocar Industries, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Xspotter vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured without a dimmer switch to adjust the dash illumination brightness. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."
The risk
Without a switch to adjust the dash illumination brightness, the dash lights may be too dim or too bright with either condition increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Autocar will notify owners and dealers will install a dimmer switch to adjust dash illumination, free of charge. The recall began on March 10, 2017. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-765-489-5499. Autocar's number for this recall is ACTT-1701.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
