Recall 17V126000 · manufacturer campaign FL-733
Steering › Linkages — Thomas Built Buses · reported 27 Feb 2017 · 6 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX transit buses. The upper pinch bolt that secures the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels may not have been properly tightened.
The risk
The loose pinch bolt may result in a loss of steering and vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the steering shaft pinch bolt, tightening it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 24, 2017. Owners may contact DTNA Customer Service 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for the recall is FL-733.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
