Electrical System › Wiring — Altec · reported 14 Mar 2017 · 335 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Aerial devices and Service Body Trucks equipped with certain JEMS 4A or JEMS 4E4 Idle Mitigation Systems (IMS). A cable within the IMS may have been improperly installed, possibly causing the cable to rub against an electrical component and short circuit.

The risk

A short circuit increases the risk of fire.

The fix

Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace and reroute the contactor cable within the IMS, free of charge. The recall began on April 13, 2017. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-205-991-7733. Altec's number for the recall is CSN 646.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
