Recall 17V212000 · manufacturer campaign 17S08

Power Train › Driveline — Ford · reported 27 Mar 2017 · 509 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Ford F-450 and F-550 Superduty vehicles. Operating the vehicle at highway speeds may cause the driveline to vibrate and fracture the driveline components or the transmission.

The risk

If the driveline or transmission fractures, the vehicle may lose motive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driveshaft and two center bearing brackets, free of charge. The recall began May 18, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford recall number 17S08.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
