Recall 17V259000
Suspension — Stoughton · reported 19 Apr 2017 · 4,188 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Stoughton Trailers, LLC (Stoughton) is recalling certain 2017-2018 DAVW and DVW 285S dry van single-axle trailers. The outside welds that attach the front suspension hangers to the subframe may crack, allowing the front hanger to detach.
The risk
If the hangers detach, the axle assemblies will break loose from the trailer causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Stoughton will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the front hanger for cracks, repairing them as necessary. Dealers will also install gussets inside the subframe, free of charge. The recall began on July 17, 2017. Owners may contact Stoughton customer service at 1-608-873-2500.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
