What's wrong

Elgin Sweeper Company Inc. (Elgin) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Eagle-F, Broom Bear-H, and Road Wizard street sweepers. The main broom flap support end cap may detach from the sweeper.

The risk

If the main broom flap support end cap detaches from the sweeper, it may be a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Elgin will notify owners, and dealers will replace the main broom flap support end cap with a newly designed part, free of charge. The recall began on May 11, 2017. Owners may contact Elgin customer service at 1-877-342-5374. Elgin's number for this recall is SB-0201.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
