Recall 17V483000

Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly — Utility · reported 1 Aug 2017 · 35 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company (Utility Trailer) is recalling certain 2017 VS2RA trailers. The weld that secures the mud flap bracket to the suspension beam may allow the mud flap bracket to detach.

The risk

If the mud flap detaches during trailer use, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Utility Trailer has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the weld for cracks, re-welding the bracket as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2017. Owners may contact Utility Trailer customer service at 1-818-965-1541.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
