Recall 17V494000

Structure — Trail King · reported 4 Aug 2017 · 743 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Trail King Industries, Inc. (Trail King) is recalling certain 2012-2014 TK70HDG, TK80HDG, TK102HDG, TK110HDG, and TK110HED gooseneck trailers. The pivot plate reinforcement in the gooseneck pivot area is shorter than necessary to prevent the pivot plate from cracking.

The risk

The cracking plate may result in the trailer deck disconnecting from the gooseneck, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Trail King will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the pivot plate for cracks, repairing any that are found, and add reinforcements to the pivot plate, free of charge. The recall began on August 18, 2017. Owners may contact Trail King customer service at 1-800-843-3324.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
