Recall 17V558000 · manufacturer campaign 17-071-CUS

Seats — Micro Bird · reported 8 Sep 2017 · 25 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Corp. Micro Bird Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2016 G5 school buses, equipped with CE White QS11 Series Convertible School Bus Seats. These seats were manufactured with integral D-Ring mounting studs that may have inadequate padding between the occupant and the D-ring mounting stud.

The risk

In the event of a rear end collision, the seat occupant's head may contact the D-ring mounting stud, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

Micro Bird will notify owners, and the seat manufacturer will provide a remedy kit, free of charge. The recall began on October 23, 2017. Owners may contact the seat manufacturer at 1-419-492-2157 extension 243 or Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012. Micro Bird's number for this recall is 17-071-CUS.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
