Recall 17V702000

Power Train › Driveline › Driveshaft — Crysteel · reported 6 Nov 2017 · 9 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Crysteel Manufacturing Inc. (Crysteel) is recalling certain 2017 dump body vehicles built on Isuzu NRR-Series chassis. The driveshafts on these vehicles may detach from the rear universal joint.

The risk

If the driveshaft detaches from the rear universal joint, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Crysteel will notify owners, and Isuzu dealers will install a repair kit, free of charge. The recall began on December 6, 2017. Owners may contact Crysteel customer service at 1-800-533-0494.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
