Seat Belts — Mercedes-benz · reported 18 Dec 2017 · 1,263 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, AMG GT R, AMG GT C and AMG GT S vehicles. The seat belts may bind within the guidance loops possibly causing slack in the seat belts.

The risk

If the seat belt binds, slack may develop through occupant movement which may lead to increased personal injury in the event of a crash.

The fix

MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will reconfigure the seat belt guides, free of charge. The recall began March 30, 2018. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-877-496-3691. MBUSA'S number for this recall is 2017120018.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
