What's wrong
Setra of North America (Setra) is recalling certain 2006-2010 S417 vehicles. The doorway strip that prevents a pinch injury from the outward swiveling entry door may not function properly.
The risk
If the doorway strip does not function properly, there is an increased risk of a pinch injury.
The fix
Setra will notify owners, and dealers will, retrofit a bridging cable to the door control unit that will prevent deactivation of the anti-entrapment strip, free of charge. The recall began on March 16, 2018. Owners may contact Setra customer service at 1-800-241-2947. Setra's number for this recall is 72.4M10699A.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
