What's wrong

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2018 Kenworth T270 trucks. The outer spindle nut of the front wheel hub assembly may have been incorrectly installed possibly causing bearing failure.

The risk

Front wheel bearing failure can lead to front wheel separation, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

PACCAR has notified owners, and dealers have inspected the hub assembly and corrected the installations, free of charge. The recall began April 26, 2018. Owners may contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5000. PACCAR's number for this recall is 18KWB.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
