Recall 18V330000 · manufacturer campaign FL-770

Equipment Adaptive/mobility — Thomas Built Buses · reported 17 May 2018 · 6 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2003-2006 Thomas Built Buses Minotour transit buses built on a Ford chassis and equipped with an optional wheelchair lift. The wheelchair lift may be allowed to operate when the vehicle is in neutral or drive, due to missing relay in the interlock wiring harness.

The risk

If the vehicle can be moved while the wheelchair lift is being used, there is an increased the risk of injury.

The fix

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wheelchair lift wiring, correcting it as necessary, free of charge. Daimler issued an interim notification to owners on June 19, 2018. The recall began November 15, 2019. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-770.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
