What's wrong

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Altec Aerial Devices and Service Body vehicles, built on Ram 5500 Diesel chassis. The positive stud on the lead acid battery disconnect bracket may contact the hood and cause an electrical short.

The risk

An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

The fix

Altec will notify owners, and dealers will replace the lead acid battery disconnect, free of charge. The recall began August 23, 2018. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 688.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
