Recall 18V457000 · manufacturer campaign 2018070007

Vehicle Speed Control — Mercedes-benz · reported 10 Jul 2018 · 20 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2017 Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with the incorrect reverse speed limitation software. While in reverse, any abrupt changes in steering while exceeding 16 MPH may cause the vehicle to become unstable.

The risk

An unstable vehicle in reverse gear can lead to a vehicle rollover, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will update the engine control unit (ECU) software, free of charge. The recall began August 3, 2018. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
