Recall 18V543000 · manufacturer campaign SC0411
Trailer Hitches › Fifth Wheel Assembly — Mack · reported 16 Aug 2018 · 9 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2019 Mack Anthem trucks equipped with Jost fifth wheel couplings. The fifth wheel may have an outboard slider bracket that is too narrow, possibly allowing the trailer to separate from the tractor.
The risk
If the trailer separates from the tractor, it can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fifth wheel slider bracket, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began September 25, 2018. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0411.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
