Recall 18V648000 · manufacturer campaign 2018RECALL01
Structure › Body — Lion · reported 20 Sep 2018 · 18 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Lion Electric Company (Lion) is recalling certain 2016 Lion Lion C electric school buses. In the event of a crash, the ceiling joints may separate due to being assembled incorrectly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
The risk
If the ceiling joint separates in the event of a crash, it can increase the risk of injury.
The fix
Lion will notify owners, and dealers will install rivets and glue to secure the joints, free of charge. The recall began November 1, 2018. Owners may contact Lion customer service at 1-855-546-6706. Lion's number for this recall is 2018RECALL01.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
