Recall 18V778000 · manufacturer campaign SC0413

Steering — Mack · reported 1 Nov 2018 · 169 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2019 Mack Anthem (AN), Granite (GR), and Pinnacle (PI) vehicles. The pinch bolt on the upper steering shaft may not have been tightened, possibly resulting in the steering shaft separating and causing a loss of steering.

The risk

A loss of steering can increase the risk of a crash.

The fix

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles for any loose pinch bolts, correcting the vehicles as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 30, 2018. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0413.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
