Recall 18V895000 · manufacturer campaign FSI 1240

Electrical System — Dennis Eagle · reported 19 Dec 2018 · 5 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Dennis Eagle Inc. (Dennis Eagle) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Dennis Eagle Elite refuse trucks equipped with reverse alarm mute switches. Using the reverse alarm mute switch will prevent the truck from beeping when the vehicle is in reverse.

The risk

If the reverse alarm is muted, pedestrians may not realize the vehicle is reversing, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

Dennis Eagle will notify owners, and dealers will remove the reverse alarm mute switch and install a blanking plate, free of charge. The recall began January 21, 2019. Owners may contact Dennis Eagle customer service at 1-813-440-8136. Dennis Eagle's number for this recall is FSI 1240.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
