Recall 19V331000

Exterior Lighting › Brake Lights — Southeast Apparatus · reported 30 Apr 2019 · 39 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Southeast Apparatus is recalling certain 2017-2018 Tankers, Pumpers, and Rescue vehicles equipped with Whelen brake lights. Depending on the specific wiring of the vehicle, these brake lights may illuminate when the brake pedal has not been pressed.

The risk

If the brake lights incorrectly illuminate, it can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Southeast Apparatus will notify owners and Whelen will replace the brake lights, free of charge. The recall began May 1, 2019. Owners may contact Southeast Apparatus customer service at 1-888-996-6277.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
