Recall 19V372000 · manufacturer campaign 19508

Engine — International · reported 14 May 2019 · 705 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2019 International CV vehicles equipped with Duramax 6.6 liter diesel engines and an optional engine-block heater (feature code 12XBL). The engine block heater cord or the terminals that connect the heater cord to the block heater may short circuit and fail.

The risk

A short-circuit may damage the engine components and increase the risk of fire.

The fix

Navistar will notify owners and dealers will replace the engine block heater, free of charge. Navistar issued owners an interim notification on May 31, 2019. A second letter will be mailed when the remedy becomes available. The recall began November 14, 2019. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 19508.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
