Recall 19V395000 · manufacturer campaign 05-1021
Fuel System, Diesel › Pre-heater — Starcraft Bus · reported 24 May 2019 · 2 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Starcraft All Star XL vehicles equipped with diesel engines with fuel module option number FS90301 or FS90453. The electric fuel heater within the fuel module may overheat and cause plastic in the fuel heater to melt and potentially catch fire. It may also lead to engine stalling.
The risk
A fire increases the risk of injury. An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuse to a 30A fuse, reverse the polarity of the wiring to the fuel heater, install a new fuel heater, and add a white dot on the fuel heater connector, free of charge.. The recall began August 28, 2019. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1021.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
