Equipment › Mechanical › Winch — Altec · reported 15 Aug 2019 · 23 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2012-2019 Altec AM60E, AA55E, AH75/85/100, AH125, and AH150 Aerial Devices. The recovery winch valve may allow the winch to lift more than it is rated for.

The risk

If the recovery winch attempts to lift more than it is rated for, it can increase the risk of an injury or death.

The fix

Altec will notify owners, and instruct owners to inspect the winch pressures and install an external pressure relief valve, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 7, 2019. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 734.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
