Recall 19V630000

Suspension › Front — Pierce · reported 28 Aug 2019 · 1 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Pierce Manufacturing (Pierce) is recalling one 2019 Pierce Tanker vehicle built on a Daimler/Freightliner chassis equipped with a front Meritor MX 120EVO axle. The axle may have insufficient lubrication, which may result in damage to the wheel end bearings.

The risk

If the bearings are damaged, the wheel may separate and cause a sudden loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of crash.

The fix

Pierce will notify the owner, and a dealer will inspect and replace the wheel end components, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 27, 2020. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
