Recall 19V756000 · manufacturer campaign RVXX1906

Steering — Volvo · reported 24 Oct 2019 · 2,287 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2020 VNL and VNR vehicles equipped with HD94 Sheppard gear variants. The steering gear mounting fasteners may be insufficiently tightened, allowing the steering gear to loosen.

The risk

A loose steering gear can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Volvo Trucks will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and re-torque the steering gear to a higher value. Additionally, the steering gear will be replaced, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 14, 2019. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX1906.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
