Recall 19V764000 · manufacturer campaign 19V674
Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Reservoir/tank — Custom Fire · reported 25 Oct 2019 · 57 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc. is recalling certain 2002-2019 Pumpers, Tankers and Rescue vehicles built on a Spartan Motors chassis. The service brake air reservoir system may not be pressure protected where the control line for the automatic tire chain system is connected.
The risk
If the control line is cut, the service brake air system may suddenly lose air, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Spartan will notify Custom Fire owners. Dealers will inspect the routing of the control lines, rerouting them into the auxiliary air reservoir as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 15, 2019. Owners may contact Custom Fire customer service at 1-715-294-2555. Custom Fire's number for this recall is 19V674.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
