Recall 20V047000 · manufacturer campaign 2020020016
Electrical System › Wiring — Mercedes-benz · reported 28 Jan 2020 · 28 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2019 AMG GT63 4MATIC and AMG GT63S 4MATIC vehicles. A wiring harness for the automatic transmission may not be properly secured, allowing it to chafe against the drive shaft and possibly cause an engine stall.
The risk
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the mounting clips and wiring harness, and repair or replace them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 13, 2020. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2020020016.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
