Recall 20V096000

Equipment › Other › Labels — Smc · reported 20 Feb 2020 · 35 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

SMC Trailers is recalling certain 2019-2020 Laramie trailers. The Federal Placard indicates the incorrect tire PSI, which may result in the tires being overinflated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The risk

Tires inflated to the limit provided on the label could fail, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

SMC Trailers will notify owners, and dealers will provide new placards with the correct PSI listed, free of charge. The recall began March 13, 2020. Owners may contact SMC Trailers customer service at 1-574-966-5598.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
