Equipment › Other › Owners/service/other Manual — Freightliner, Mercedes-benz · reported 26 Mar 2020 · 52,127 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2019 Freightliner Sprinter and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles. The Operator's Manual may not contain the correct information about how the automatic parking function ("Auto-P") operates.

The risk

If the driver relies on the Auto-P function as described in the Operator's Manual, vehicle rollaway or movement may occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

DVUSA will notify owners, and Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealers will provide the correct description of the Auto-P function for the Operator's Manual, free of charge. The recall began May 18, 2020. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3BAUTOP.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
