Recall 20V230000 · manufacturer campaign 2020-171

Equipment › Mechanical — Lode King · reported 22 Apr 2020 · 2 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Lode-King Industries LTD. (Lode-King) is recalling certain 2015-2021 Prestige SDG53-2 step-deck semi-trailers. The cargo securing winches may not be properly mounted to the trailer. As a result, the cargo winch mount could fail and allow cargo to come loose.

The risk

If the mount fails, the cargo or load can fall off the trailer and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Lode-King will notify owners, and dealers will replace the cargo winches with an updated version, free of charge. The recall began April 30, 2020. Owners may contact Lode-King customer service at 1-204-325-4345.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
