Steering › Column — Blue Bird · reported 5 Aug 2020 · 293 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2021 Vision and All American school buses. The nut that secures the steering wheel to the steering shaft may not have been properly tightened.
The risk
An improperly tightened steering wheel could detach, resulting in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Blue Bird will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the steering wheel nut, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began August 26, 2020. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R20AY-SB.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
