Recall 20V501000 · manufacturer campaign CSN 773

Equipment — Altec · reported 25 Aug 2020 · 30 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2018-2020 EC505 6S+3S and EC655 6S+6S vehicles. The load holding grip of the grapple tines may loosen, resulting in a loss of load control.

The risk

Loss of load control may increase the risk of death or injury.

The fix

Altec will notify owners, and dealers will install a counterbalance valve with a lower pressure ratio to increase the opening threshold, free of charge. The recall began October 20, 2020. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 773.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
