Recall 20V568000 · manufacturer campaign CR4963
Steering › Hydraulic Power Assist › Hose, Piping, And Connections — Nova Bus · reported 21 Sep 2020 · 223 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Nova Bus (Nova) is recalling certain 2020 Nova Bus LFS transit buses. Certain power steering pipes from the rear engine bay to the front gear box may separate at the connection joint. This may cause a power steering assist lost and power steering fluid may leak from the ceiling into the passenger compartment.
The risk
A loss of power steering assist may increase the risk of a crash. A power steering fluid leak into the passenger cabin may increase the risk of a passenger injury.
The fix
Nova Bus will notify owners, provide instructions for inspecting and replacing the power steering pipes, free of charge. The recall began October 7, 2020. Owners may contact Nova customer service at 1-800-350-6682. Nova's number for this recall is CR4963.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
