Recall 20V803000 · manufacturer campaign SR21-81; SR21-80

Power Train › Automatic Transmission — Volvo Bus · reported 21 Dec 2020 · 553 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Volvo Bus Corporation (Volvo Bus) is recalling certain 2015-2020 9700 buses. The transmission C1 hub may fail which may lead to a disabled vehicle.

The risk

A disabled bus may require passengers to transfer to a different bus on the side of the road, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

Volvo Bus will notify owners, and dealers will update the Transmission Control Module (TCM) calibration software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 12, 2021. Owners may contact Volvo Bus customer service at 1-866-870-2046.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
