NHTSA safety recall

Recall 21V292000 · manufacturer campaign 21-410

Equipment — Keystone · reported 26 Apr 2021 · 574 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2021 Passport 282QB, 2400RB, 2704RK trailers. The safety chains installed are underrated for the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR).

The risk

Underrated chains can allow the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will replace the safety chains, free of charge. Owners letters were mailed June 2, 2021. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 21-410.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
