Recall 21V337000 · manufacturer campaign CSN 821

Equipment — Altec · reported 12 May 2021 · 314 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2014-2021 TDA-58 aerial devices. The chains used to tie down the TDA-58 for transport may break.

The risk

A broken tie-down chain may allow the TDA-58 to shift during transport, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Altetc will install new tie-down points, D-rings, and provide revised loading instructions, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 7, 2021. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 821.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
